Color: Gold sparkle with “Art Gold” hardware
Shell Size and Construction: 5”x14” solid mahogany snare, 28”x14” solid mahogany bass
Year: Late 1920’s early 1930’s
Lug Type and Number: 8 four screw lugs on snare, 12 tube lugs on bass
Condition: Excellent
Extra Holes or Modifications: None on snare, two extra holes for tom mount on bass.
Notes: Very rare collectible trap set with Gold sparkle Covering. Made by Leedy, as all Wurlitzer drums of the era were, but labeled Wurlizer on the snare drum. The original Gold sparkle covering has no fade or marks and is in excellent condition.
The only negative is the addition of two extra holes in the bass drum for an early rail mount for adding a clip on tom. The bass drum also has a factory mounted light system with the mounted plug in the shell. Both heads are calf with the front head being an aftermarket painted head. This bass drum is solid mahogany with a fantastic sound.
The snare drum is in mint condition. Four of the lugs have small, hairline cracks which is common with this style lug. The cracks are almost impossible to see with the naked eye. We had to use magnification to find them. The wood grommet is not original but has been replaced with a newly made replica. The drum even has the original snares with art gold plated ends and original strap connecting them to the throw-off.
Additional hardware to complete the look of a 1920s trap set is available. This will make an exciting addition to any collection.
