This is an early 1960's, pre-serial Ludwig Pioneer snare drum in a rare green sparkle wrap. There is a very faint red ink date stamp on the white painted interior of this drum showing November , 196x. Based on the pre-serial badge and white interior we date the drum around 1963. The nickel plated hardware including NOB drop gate counter hoops, 6 bowtie lugs and 3/4" mufler knob are in excellent condition. The Ludwig script logo P-83 throw off and P-32 butt plate are also in great condition. There are two small holes near the throw-off from the installation of a 3-point throw off. The rare green sparkle wrap is in excellent condition. Pear; finishes on Pioneer snare drums from this era were special order making this a somewhat rare example of an early 1960's snare. This snare drum will make a rare addition to a green sparkle early 1960's Ludwig outfit.
