Beautifully preserved Super Ludwig "Swing" model snare drum in excellent condition. Deep shell "Swing" model snare drums were popular during the big band era when a big drum sound was needed to match the size of the band. As shown in the attached Ludwig 1940 catalog, this 7" x 14" shell drum has all of the bells and whistles available during this era. The white marine pearl wrap is in excellent condition with very little yellowing and no issuesof any kind. The white enamel, "Silver Anniversary" badge is bright white and also in excellent condition as is the white paint on the inside of the shell. There is a clear "4202" date stamp inside the drum dating the drum to February, 1942. Alll of the nickel plated hardware is in truly excellent condition. The Super Ludwig mechanism works perfectly and the wire snares have been rebuilt with original parts so all strands are straight and seat beautifully. All hardware is original with the exception of our reproduction snare guards and a later Ludwig metal back plate behind the lower part of the mechanism. These parts are virtually indistinguishable from the originals. This is a terrific sounding instrument with that is easy to play and a pleasure to look at. It will make a fine addition to any player's syable of drums or in a collection.
