Beautiful early 1930’s Ludwig & Ludwig 5”x14” “Super-Sensitive” snare drum. This drum has a very clean, all original heavy, two-piece brass shell with both upper and lower snare mechanisms. These early NOB (nickel over brass) shells have a legendary sound and this drum is no exception. It is a magnificent sounding instrument. Both the internal snare mechanism under the top head and the outer mechanism under the bottom head work perfectly. These two sets of snares used alone or in combination give the player extra control over the sound and responsiveness of the snares. The nickel plating on the shell is excellent with no plating loss and only a few minor dings or scratches which are hardly noticeable. The tube lugs are also in excellent condition with no cracks and virtually no plating loss. The original throw-off handles do have some plating loss which is typical of drums form this era. All tension rods and clips are original or of the era replacements. The washers have all been replaced. The bottom snares are era original, individually adjustable wires. The top snares are Mike Curotto reproductions. The snare guards are also reproductions that are virtually identical to the original parts. This excellent drum will serve beautifully as either a player or collector drum. If you have been waiting for just the right early Super Sensitive to come along then this is your drum. Drums from this era simply don't come along very often in this condition.
