Superb, Early 20th century 6 1/2”x15” solid mahogany shell Super-Ludwig Band model snare drum. This is a rare WOOD Shell 6 1/2”x15” “Super Ludwig” snare drum from c. 1932-1935. As shown in the attached Ludwig catalog, this "Band" model Super was the "big brother" of the line-up of wooden shell Supers offered during this period. We have left this drum virtually as found. There is very little wear to the original shell finish and very little wear to the original nickel plating. All hardware is original to the drum including an original factory installed Ludwig muffler. The shell finish shows little to no wear. The solid mahogany shell is perfectly in round so moden heads fit and tune easily on the drum. There is minimal scratching and no dings or gouges in the shell. The solid mahogany shells from this era have a beautiful, watm resonant quality that can not be reproduced with a modern shell. Age does have its advantages. The drum comes equipped with original 10 strand wire, indiividually adjustable snares. We can provide nickel snare guards and new heads if desired. This drum will make an atractive addition to any collection for perfomance or display.
