5”x14” solid maple snare drum, 28”x14” Pioneer Model bass drum. This is a unique opportunity to own a beautiful 1928 Ludwig & Ludwig outfit with original Marble pearl wrap. one of the rarest Ludwig finishes from the 1920's. The wrap on these drums is in perfect condition -- no chips or splits. The marble pearl inlay on the bass drum is complete and original. There were two small extra holes on the snare drum, possibly from a drum key holder, which have been filled and patched. The patches have been blended into the pattern of the wrap and are very hard to see. The bass drum is a Pioneer model single tension drum, a very rare drum to find in this finish. Our records show the Pioneer model was not offered in marble pearl so this may be a one of a kind drum. It is in all original condition with a nice Pioneer badge. The drum has a modern calf head on the batter side and a rare, original Ludwig "Oriental" scene painted head in excellent condition. The marble pearl wrap on the snare drum and the bass drum are a good match. The lighter areas on both drums have "greened" slightly with the snare drum being just slightly greener than the bass drum. All of the traps and hardware are period correct Ludwig branded items. The 10" Chinese tom tom is black with a nearly complete Ludwig decal present on the shell. The tom tom holder and clamp have beautiful nickel plating in mint condition. The two-tone block is also black and mounted on a Ludwig holder that also includes a triangle holder. The crash cymbal is a period correct thin 11" Zenjian. The Ludwig cymbal holder and Ludwig cymbal suspender are in mint condition. The 10" Ludwig tambourine has a new calf head and perfect Ludwig decal. The BD pedal cymbal is a 13" heavy Ludwig brand cymbal on a Ludwig mount in mint condition. Ludwig spurs, professional pedal, castagnettes and period drum book round out the outfit. This is a remarkable set with rare finish and all original traps and hardware that will make a welcome addition to any collection.
