This is a nice example of a rare size Super Ludwig snare drum from the late 1920’s, circa 1927-1932. A heavy two piece nickel over brass shell in the 6 ½” depth and 15” diameter is hard to find, especially in good condition. This drum is set up for use with a band or orchestral setting. It has individually adjustable gut snares and newer plastic heads. The snare guards, often missing, are reproduction as well as the extension arm and thumb screw. There are three extra holes from a previously added muffler (muffler has been removed). The shell overall is in very good condition with minimal wear to the nickel plating and only a very few very minor dings. The parallel mechanism works perfectly and the drum produces a big, full, open sound. This drum will make an excellent addition to a player’s collection of instruments providing that unique sound required for certain parts of the classical repertoire. .
