Dog Bark Imitation

Dog Bark Imitation
Product Code: TRE59

Mounted Dog Bark imitation. As shown in the attached pre-1920 Dixie Music House catalog, this dog bark has a 4" calf head mounted on a tin drum. Rubbing the string that runs through the center of the head in short bursts creates a convincing dog bark imitation. The operates on the same principal as a lion's roar or cuica. Adding cello rosin or some other slightly sticky substance to the string provides the friction needed to activate the head. This dog bark has been mounted to an oak rail with the string secured to an eye hook. This allows the player to play the dog bark with one hand with the oak base clamped securely to a trap table. The overall length of the dog bark and rail is just over 32". These were standard traps from the early vaudeville era but few have survived. They were used for all kinds of imitations and make a fun addition to any traps collection.
