Beautiful and rare all metal Hen Cackle imitation (Model No S-16 1/2), as shown in the 1920 Dixie Music House catalog. This Hen Cackle imitation was one of a series of imitations sold in the drummer's catalog titled "Dummers Vade Mecum", a catalog of drummer's instruments, traps, and hardware similar to and including items from Ludwig and other manufacturers. Drummers of the time kept a large collection of imitations and sound effects to enhance their performances in the theaters of the day. Our Hen Cackle imitation is a one-piece nickel plated tube with mouth piece and internal reed. The imitation name "HEN" is stamped on the side. The imitation works perfectly. The total length is 4 1/8" and comes from the same set of imitations as our Jay Bird imitation and produces a very good imitation of a hen.
