Product Code: COHT47

Vintage Lang Percussion castagnette machine formerly owned and played by Fred D. ("Dan") Hinger. The Lang castagnette machine is a fine instrument crafted from the best wooden castagnettes. The base is solid oak and the two pairs of castagnettes are suspended on a felt lined post. Each pair of castagnette mounts can be adjusted for tension to make them comfortable to play for the individual part and player. These were the standard for castagnette machines for many years and are a necessary part of any percussionist's instrument collection. The name of Dan Hinger is written on the bottom as shown indicating the provenance of the instrument. This instrument is from a collection of traps and sound effects formerly owned by Fred D. Hinger, former principal percussionist and timpanist with the Philadelphia Orchestra (1948 – 1967) and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra (1967 – 1983). This is a unique opportunity to own an excellent instrument with a fine provenance.
