Leedy 6 ½”x15” Dual – This is a rare first generation, Elkhart Indiana, Leedy 6 ½”x15” Dual with a nickel over brass shell. The drum has all original parts except for heads and upper snares.  The shell is a heavy 2 piece brass shell in very good condition with some typical light oxidation of the nickel plating and very few light scratches and dings.  Brass shell drums of this model and size are very rare today. Most remaining examples have wooden shells. This drum isn't just a rarity to be put on a shelf for display. It's a great sounding instrument. The drum tunes easily and has a big fat sound as you would expect.  The original wire wound silk bottom snares are surprisingly sensitive and respond very well in all dynamic levels. The additional set of internal upper wire snares are reproductions from Mike Curotto that add additional sensitifivy perfect for light passages and brush work. This is a unique opportunity to add a vintage deep brass shell snare drum to your collection whether you intend to play or display the instrument.
