This is one of the classic traps from the early 20th century that was a mainstay in every theater percussionist's trap case. These were sold by all of the major drum manufacturers of the period. They were listed in the catalogs under various names but primarily described as a "Carnival Rooter", frog, or cricket imitation. The trap fits into the palm of the player's hand. Cranking the small handle produces a chirping sound that can be controled in pitch by cupping a hand over the bell of the imitation. This imitation has a nice aged brass patina and is in excellent condition. These are hard to find traps and a must have for any complete early century traps collection.
