Vintage 3-Tone metal Interurban whistle. These interurbn whistles were a standard sound effect found in every early 20th century traps and sound effects collection. They whistle imitates a small train or trolley whistle from the early 20th century. This is a nickel over brass whistle that sounds terrific. If has a nice vintage patina and terrific history. Our Interurban whistle is from a collection of traps and sound effects formerly owned by Emil Kresse, principal percussionist and timpanist of the Philadelphia Orchestra (1901 – 1945) who passed them on to Fred D. Hinger, also a former principal percussionist and timpanist with the Philadelphia Orchestra (1948 – 1967) and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra (1967 – 1983). This is a unique opportunity to own a vintage whistle with a fine provenance that will become a useful addition to any vintage traps collection.
