Early 1900's Solid Rim Tambourine with internal jingles. As shown in the attached Dixie Music House catalog, these full sized 10" tambourines were made with the jingles attached to the inside of the solid maple shell. The ten pair of silver jingles are mounted to a thin steel ring that is attached to the shell at three points. The middle of the ring is mounted with a bolt that can be used to adjust the tension on the metal ring. Each end of the ring is attached to the shell with a wooden fitting. It is an ingenious design but didn't seem to catch on because very few of these tambourines have survived. Our solid shell tambourines is in excellent condition. All parts are original and in good working order. The calf head is original with a few pin holes that do not affect the sound or playablity of the instrument. It is unusual to find a tmbourine of this design in all original condition today. It will make an excellent addition to any traps or tambourine collection.
