Product Code: ASM23Absolutely stunning pair of New Old Stock George B. Stone & Son cartwheel timpani mallets. These sticks are in new old stock condition. The felt is bright white and in perfect condition. They do not apprar to have ever been played. The shafts are made of one-piece hickory or some similar hardwood. The shafts are tapered and relatively thin. Each is stamped "George B. Stone & Son, Boston". There are 19 concentric circles cut into the grip area with a ridge at the bottom to give the player a confortable handle. The 2 1/2" diameter cartwheel head is attached to the shaft with a matching hardwood nut that screws onto threads cut into the end of the shaft. The balance of these sticks is perfect. The George B. Stone company ceased operations some time in the 1930's so it is remarkable that these sticks survived in this condition for so many years. This is a beautiful pair of sticks and a real piece of American drum history. It will make a beautiful addition to any timpanist's collection of mallets or to a vintage George B. Stone collecttion.
