This is an equally great drum for a player or a collector who wants a nice 4”x14” dance model snare drum added to their collection. The drum has been refinished and brought back to its original appearance. The shell is slightly out of round most noticeably on the bottom or resonant side. To tune the drum, the flesh hoop of the bottom plastic head has been split (a practice used to allow heads to fit on out of round shells) in order for the head to fit over the shell. A standard top head fits fine without modification. If calf skin heads are used the wooden flesh hoop can be custom fit to the shell as it was back in the days when this drum was made. New, custom made calf skin heads can be provided upon request for an additional cost. This drum has been equipped with blue cable snares making it a good candidate for orchestral work. It is sensitive with a warm woody sound. This is a beautiful looking and sounding drum that any drummer will be proud to own and play.
