Great example of an early Ludwig & Ludwig Thumb-Rod snare drum from the teens. The Ludwig & Ludwig logo is burned into the interior of the shell like all drums from this period. As shown in the 1919 catalog attached, this drum is the Model No. 61, 3" x 14" 10 lug version. This was a popular drum in the early days of vaudeville and burlesque and still produces the typical sound from the era. Both top and bottom heads are calfskin with original wire wound silk snares. Solid maple shell, Pioneer throw-off, and maple counter hoops complete the drum. This is a rare find and a great piece of history.
