Reconditioned 1926 Ludwig & Ludwig 5”x14” StipelGold Super Ludwig Snare Drum. This is a great drum with a solid Mahogany shell stamped “GOLD” on the inside indicating that it was to be finished in “StipelGold”, a new “Fancy Finish” offered only in the 1926 Ludwig catalog. This drum was owned and used by a member of the Seattle Symphony for many years. Over the years the original finish had been removed from the drum shell. We have completely refurbished the drum by reapplying the original StipelGold finish and re-plating all of the hardware to its original copper so that the drum now looks very close to how it appeared when it arrived from the factory in 1926. All the hardware is original to the drum and era with the possible exception of some of the mounting nuts and bolts. The drum has been equipped with individually adjustable cable snares which sound very close to gut but have a bit more sensitivity. The drum sounds fantastic and will make an excellent display drum for a serious collector or a great performance instrument to be played and appreciated for years to come.
