Vintage pair of Hinger Touch-Tone marimba mallets. This is an unusual pair of mallets given that the meium soft heads are disk shaped rather than round like most other Hinger mallets. There is an original layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the head to reduce contact noise. This pair would be an ideal candidate for wrapping with yarn for marimba playing. There are signs that these mallets were previously yarn wrapped. Once wrapped these would be ideal low register marimba mallets. The shafts are 3/8" round reed. The round reed material is rattan with the smooth skin removed which is straight and even in thickness. Each shaft has a red ink Hinger stamp. This is a nice pair of vintage Hinger mallets in excellent condition. These are easy to play and will produce a nice sound on any marimba.
