This is a rare mid-1960's Slingerland cocktail outfit in the super rare first generation black sparkle wrap. As shown in the 1965 catalog, this outfit has a 5 1/2" x 14" snare drum and 16" x 16" bass drum. The bass drum has the snare mount attached directly to the shell. The snare drum also has a cowbell mount so the entire compact outfit is easy to set up and move around the stage with the attached handle. This outfit is finished with a super rare first generation black sparkle wrap. This version of the black sparkle wrap has sparsely scattered maroon sparkles on a solid black background. Under the lights the black sparkle will show a slightly purple glow. The wrap on these drums is in excellent condition. It is a little faded so it doesn't show as much purple glow as it once did but it is very attractive under the lights. The snare drum has a date stamp of November, 1964. Both drums have chrome over brass rims and black & brass Niles badges with serial numbers 51xxx. The seams are tight on both drums and there is hardly a scratch on the surfaces. The bass drum has it's original wooden hoop with black sparkle inlay. Both drums have an original Slingerland sound king resonant head. The bass drum has its original spurs, snare drum mount, handle, and tension rods. A nice vintage Slingerland cymbal L-arm mount has been added to complete the outfit .This is a great sounding, rare outfit in a super rare wrap. It will make a great addition to a Slingerland collection or working drummer's tool kit.
