The "Premier of all Orchestra Drums", as describd in the attached 1914 C.G. Conn catalog. This perforated shell snare drum has two sets of snares, one under each head. The brass shell is perforated with a beautiful stylized C. C. Conn logo pattern cut into the shell. Virutlaly all of the examples we have seen of this drum that are seen today are the standard nickel plated variety as shown in the catalog. However, this drum is unique in that it's shell is silver plated and all of the hardware, including the metal inlay in the counter hoops, is plated with real gold. This must have been a special order, most likely as a presentation drum for the winner of a competition or retiree. When we received this drum it was completely black with tarnish and grime. We carefully restored all of the metal parts back to its original luster. There is one small area of missing silver plating on the shell above the bottom throw-off where the brass is showing through. Otherwise, this drum is in perfect, all original condition. Truly a unique, show piece drum for any collection.
