This is a beautiful Conn brand pre-1920, natural walnut field drum. Its shell size is !6" x 10" and has 14 single tension lugs. The orignal oval Conn "Elkhart Indiana" nickel plated badge is mounted to the top counterhoop. The hardware includes the original thumb tension strainer mounted to a wooden block on the shel and original wire wound silk snares all in perfect condition. The beautiful walnut ply shell has a wonderful grain pattern. There are a few small surfacr cracks in the ply that only add to its vintage appearance. The 14 single tension rods are in excellent overall condition. They have their original vintage patina, with some minor plating loss and NO rust. Two of the rods have era correct replacement parts installed. Both calfskin heads are in good order. The translucent bottom head may even be original to the drum. This is a wonderful early example of a modern, non-rope tension field drum that will make a great display drum in any vintage drum collection.
