This is a beautiful examp;le of an early Leedy engraved Black Elite snare drum. Leedy's version of the black beauty has a beautiful engraving pattern in the black nickel shell. The nobby gold hardware provides a beautiful contrast next to the black shell. We date this drum to around 1924 given that it has 4 screw elite lugs and an early "Presto" strainer. All of the hardware on this drum is bright and shiny. It was nicelt restored at some point in the recent past. There is a clear Leedy Indianapolis stamp on the top rim and a script Leedy logo on the strainer adjustment knob. There is some spotting in the black nickel finish that is hardly noticeable and two small extra holes under the throw-off that are hard to see unless the throw-of is removed. This is a beautiful example of a rare drum that will be a centerpiece of any Leedy collection.
