This is a great example of a rare Leedy Broadway Dual model snare drum from 1935 (date stamp is 3509) with chrome plated hardware.  The shell covering is a beautiful bright White Marine Pearl with very little fading. The chrome plated hardware is rare, during this era when most drums have nickel plated hardware, and is in excellent condition. With a few minor exceptions, all parts are original to the drumWe like to refer to the snare mechanism on the drum as the first version of the second generation of the Leedy Parallel throw-off because it has the extension levers for the throw-off. This is in contrast with the second version of the second generation parallel throw-off which has the more familiar “thumb” lever and no extension arms.  The original spring loaded wire bottom snares are present and in good working order. The top snare mechanism works as it should and the original snares are present and in very good condition. The throw-off shows loss of plating, which is typical for the era but the throw-off is solid and works as it should. The shell is slightly out of round but in great condition overall. It currently has an Earth-Tone batter head and an Aquarian Vintage snare head that fits nicely. The white marine pearl has one small piece of the pearl covering that had chipped out around the seam but was glued back in place. There are also a couple of minor cracks in the pearl covering that are not very distracting and the areas around the cracks are tight to the shell.  As mentioned above a few minor missing parts have been replaced. The extension arms and the thumb screws that hold them in place are reproductions as is one of the snare adjusting thumb knobs. The small shoulder screws for the throw-off were missing and have been replaced with modern shoulder screws. Overall this drum shows typical wear for its but is a fine example of the rare Broadway Dual model.
