This is a rare, Ludwig Symphonic snare drum with a transition badge in excellent all original, as found, condition. During the WFL years, this drum was sold as the "Ray McKinley" model snare drum. While transitioning to the Ludwig brand in the late 50's, this model was rebranded the "Symphonic" model while the catalog model number 902P was maintained through the transition. This example of the snare drum sports a Ludwig transition badge along with WFL branded butt plate and throw-off. All of the hardware is nickel plated and includes 16 split classice lugs, NOB rims with a drop snare gate, and 3/4" muffler knob. All of the hardware is original to the drum and in perfect, unrestored condition with no rust and a beautiful vintage patina. The white marine pearl wrap is also unrestored and in perfect condition. The snares and bottom head are also original to the drum. The shell interior has its original white paint and no date stamp. We attribute this drum to 1958, during the Ludwig transition period. This is a beautiful example of a Ludwig transition instrument with its mix of Ludwig and WFL branding. It's all original, unrestored state makes it a great addition to any Ludwig snare drum collection.
