This is a fine example of a late 1950's Gretsch Renown snare drum with a two-tone "Harlequin" finish. Gretsch offered this finish for a short time so there aren't many of these drums available today. This example is also rare in that its shell size is a full 6" deep which is not shown as an option in any of the Gretsch catalogs of the era. The two-tone red and black duco finish is in very good condition. There are a few dings in the shell but ni chipping of the paint. All chrome plated parts are original to the drum, including the original Responso snare wires. The 6-ply shell has a gray painted interior and no paper tag. Slingerland Radio King calf heads enhance the vintage character of this drum. This is one of the most unique and attractive finishes produced by Gretsch during this era and makes a great display or player drum to complete a two-tone outfit.
