This is a Rogers Memri-loc era (circa 1976) clip on drum mute. As shown in the attached 1976 Rogers catalog, these mufflers clip on to a triple flanged drum counter hoop and rest on the head to reduce drum head "ring". The muffler has an adjustment screw to allow the player to adjust the tension on the muffler. These exterior mufflers are useful and make a nice addition to a vintage Rogers outfit.
