This is a rare set of three Walter Light timpani dating from the late 1960’s. They were reconditioned by Fred Hinger and in the Hinger family since the early 1970’s. The set consists of drums sized 28”, 25” and 23”. The drums are in very good condition with all mechanical elements working smoothly and are an excellent great sounding set. Mr. Hinger was a master timpanist as well as master drum technician so everything about these drums is just right If you were a student of Fred Hinger in the 1970’s, you might have played on these drums in his teaching studio. This is a great opportunity to get a set of quality drums, played and maintained by a timpani legend, at a very reasonable price. To complete this set, an aluminum bowl 31” cable drum also available for an additional cost. The aluminum bowl was an experimental bowl Mr. Hinger tried when they were producing the Hinger Touch-Tone timpani. Bill Hinger (Mr. Hinger’s son and the one who actually made the Hinger Touch-Tone timpani) says this aluminum bowl is a shallow bowl with nice sound but with a softer quality compared to a copper bowl instrument of the same size. Pictures of the 31" cable drum available upon request. A reasonable price offer will be considered.
