Vintage Hinger Touch-Tone tam tam/gong mallet. This is one of the most useful tam tam/gong mallets ever made. It has a heavy aluminum shaft and heavy head that is the perfect weight for large gongs or tam-tams. The head has a hard and soft side which is indicated by two different colors of tape on the shaft. The yellow side is soft and the red side is hard. Another useful feature is that the head is large enough for the mallet to stand upright on the stage floor. The player can place it next to the instrument in the perfect playing position making quick changes to the tam-tam much easier to execute. The mallet head has been re-covered in thick white fake "fur" which is the perfect covering to produce a great sound on large tam-tams. The overall length is 17 1/2". The head diamter is 7". As with many of the earliest Hinger mallets there is no Hinger Touch-Tone stamp on the shaft but the original tape markings are in place. Add this genuine Hinger mallet to your collection of Hinger sticks and mallets.
