Here's a fantastic set of model no. 323 Parsifal bells made by J.C. Deagan. This is a rare set of Deagan Parsifal bells. The model 323 set has 7/8” wide steel bars that are 3/8” thick. They are a little lighter in sound than the more common 1 ¼” wide bar sets and have a fantastic “sparkle” to their sound. The range is a full 2 1/2 octaves from F-C, adding two extra notes below the standard bells of the era that end at “G” on the low end. The sound of the bars is amazing with full tone throughout the range including the lower half octave, which is often thin sounding on other sets of bells. The resonators installed under the bars enhance their resonance and sustain while allowing them to decay gradually without causing the tone to get mushy with overlapping sound. The bars are in very good to excellent condition with no plating loss. The case was in rough condition when we found it and has been fully restored. Some veneer has been replaced, extra hinge and handle holes plugged, and metal edges have been replaced/added for extra protection of the wood. New chord has been installed under the bars along with new insulators. The new case hinges have removable pins allowing the top to be completely removed when in use. New, metal reinforced leather handles have also been installed. The inside of the case is in original condition. The next owner of this instrument will have a great example of this legendary instrument.
