This is a gorgeous looking and sounding early 20th century Leedy concert bass drum with a rare 18" deep shell. The shell is a full 30" x 18" in size. Most 30" bass drums from this era are 14" in depth. The extra 4" in depth of this drum gives the drum a beautiful deep resonant sound that makes it a perfect bass drum for a concert band or orchestra. The shell is a natural dark walnut. The dark color of the shell along with the maple counter hoops gives it a striking stage presence. All 12 tension rods are in nice condition with bright nickel plating and no rust. There is a script Leedy badge on one of the counter hoops. Both calf heads are in good playable shape. A factory installed heater plate can be used for a heater or interal dampener if desired. There is one small repair to one of the maple counterhoops that was done many years ago which has held up nicely. The drum also comes with its original Leedy shipping trunk custom fit to this drum. The trunk is in perfect working order with all of its original internal padding to protect the drum. Both of the original leather handles are still in place and both latches work perfectly. The trunk also has a script logo Leedy badge on the outside as well as a Leedy decal on the inside. This combination of a beautiful, rare sized bass drum and custom fitted trunk provide a unique opportunity for a performing arts group to add a fine vintage instrument to its percussion collection.
