Here is an excellent example of a marimba from Leedy's best production years. This 1939, 4-0ctave "Royal" marimba is in near mint condition. It has a beautiful art deco frame, that was only in production for a few years, complete with black diamond pearl covering on the ends and rails, and bright chrome plated supports. The instrument is completely original with the exception of the cord and one reproduction resonator support. The rosewood bars have their original tuning and are in absolutely beautiful condition. The range is 4-octaves, C to C with graduated bars ranging from 2 1/4" on the low end to 1 5/8" at the top. The decorative resonators can be height adjusted to maximize bar resonance in varying temperatures. They are made of a light weight metal making them easy to transport. The black diamond covering is in excellent condition with no chips or crazing. All of the chrome plating is bright and the frame is strurdy with oversized wheels for ease of movement. Like all Leedy keyboard instruments, the Royal marimba is designed to break down for easy transport. This marimba comes with a complete set of four original Leedy cases designed specifically for this instrument. The instrument looks fantastic and sounds just as good. It has great resonance and even sound quality throughout the range. This Leedy instrument is a collector quality instrument with terrific sound quality for the player. There isn't a better example of a top of the line Leedy marimba from the late 1930's still in existence today.
