This is an exciting early edition, copyright 1891, of Carl Fischer's Celebrated Tutors series for side drum-xylophone, tympanies and castanets. Carl Fischer publishing created a volume in this series for a variety of musical instruments. This edition, focused on percussion instruments of the era, contains instruction, exercises, and solos for each of the listed percussion instruments. It's a fabulous piece of history that is fascinating to look through. This copy is in good condition with a missing cover and spine. However, there are no missing or dog eared pages allowing the reader to get all of the information provided by the author. This is a very cool piece that belongs in a fine percussion music library.
