Here is a nice original pre- 1923, 6 lug nickel/brass heavy two piece shell, Ludwig & Ludwig 4”x14” Dance Model snare drum. This drum was one we decided to leave “as found” original condition. The drum came to us with this top calf skin head that is still usable although has a couple small tears in the skin. The bottom head is plastic and the snares are 10 strands of period correct wire wound silk. The heavy two piece shell has the expected wear for a drum from this era with only a few light dings and no significant dents. The steel, no flange rims, show typical plating loss, as does the throw-off. The throw-off works smoothly as it should. There is one damaged tube lug, as pictured, but it does not affect the functioning of the lug. Overall this is a great example of a pre-1923 Ludwig & Ludwig professional line snare drum worthy of being in a nice collection or used as a player drum.
