This is a 1923 Ludwig & Ludwig 5" x 14" "All Around" model snare drum in mint condition. We have never seen a better preserved example of this early 1920's NOB (nickel over brass) snare drum. The heavy two-piece solid brass shell is in perfect condition. The nickel plating is perfect and all of the original parts are present and in perfect working order. There are no dents or dings in the shell nor any scratches in the plating or rust on the steel parts. The top head appears to be the original head with a clear Ludwig Select ink stamp. The snares are the original gut snare that are in perfect condition. As shown in the attached 1923 Ludwig & Ludwig catalog, the only thing on this drum that appears to have been changed is the bottom head. These 8 lug, heavy shell NOB snare drums from the early 1920's are some of the best drums ever made. This example is clean as a whistle. Whether it is destined for the stage or a collection, this drum will be the pride and jot of its new owner.
