CIrca 1926, Ludwig & Ludwig Stipelgold double tension bass drum with gold hardware. This is a beautiful example of the rare Stipelgold finish that Ludwig only showed in its 1926 catalog. The finish was fragile so it was replaced with the more durable Ludwigold finish the following year. The stippling on this bass drum has been expertly redone and looks identical to the original finish. The original hardware has been re-lacquered and the counter hoops have been repainted bringing this beautiful drum back to life. The drum has two nice calf skin heads custom fit to the 27 1/2" shell. The 24 T-handles on this double tension drum are attractive from all angles. This is a terrific and rare drum that could be used to build an outfit around or displayed on its own. It's also a great sounding instrument for any setting.
