Beautifully preserved Ludwig combination cow bell and wood block combination holder. These combination holders started to appear in the late 1930's and became a mainstay of the drummer's outfit. As shown in the 1940 Ludwig catalog, this model no. 453 combination holder is in near mint condition with a nice clear Ludwig script logo on the top. There is no rust or corrosion anywhere on the piece and only slight wear to the plating on the wood block mounting posts. It is designed to hold two cow bells to the side and one wood block up to 7" long in the center, This particular version of this attachment is designed to mount to either a bass drum mounted trap rail or to the bass drum counter hoop. When the attachment is on the counter hoop as shown in the pictures it puts the cow bells and wood block out front closer to the player and away from the bass drum. This style clamp is very hard to find today. This will put a nice finishing touch on any 1930's or 1940's Ludwig outfit.
