This is an early 1960's Ludwig standard Supra-Phonic 400 model snare drum with a Ludalloy shell and Hinger upgrades. This was Ludwig's top of the line standard throw off snare from this era. The drum has been modifed with Hinger upgrades to perform as an orchestral snare drum. The top head is a Hinger logo Remo Emperor head with the center of the bottom ply cut out to add resonance and also eliminate unwanted ringing. It's snares are original Hinger yellow cable snares custom fit to the drum. The drum's original P-83 strainer has been modified to accommodate the Hinger cable snares. All of the other hardware is original and in perfect condition. The brass keystone badge has a high 5 digit serial number dating the drum to around 1964. The chrome plating on the shell is in perfect condition with no hint of pitting or flaking. The drum comes complete with chrome over brass rims and white felt baseball bat muffler. This drum was used for many years in the Cincinnati Symphony and is well suited for any orchestral setting.
