Beautifully preserved Ludwig & Ludwig Pioneer model bass drum in rare marble pearl wrap. Complete with an original Ludwig logo painted resonant head with a Log Cabin scene, this attractive drum is in excellent condition. The marble pearl wrap is original with no cracks, burn marks, extra holes or chips. The original inlay in both of the wooden counterhoops is complete and unbroken. Single tension rods and hooks are in very good to excellent condition. All tension rod eylets are original and all 10 Ludwig & Ludwig washers are present. The eyelet washers all match but the Ludwig & Ludwig stamped logo is in two different styles, both period correct. Marble pearl is one of the rarest Ludwig wraps from the early 20th century. The wrap on this drum has lost some of its richness over the years but it it still a handsome color. The painted resonant head has its original painted Ludwig logo at the bottom. The interior of the head has its original wash of colors to difuse an interior light. The Log Cabin scene is bright and has no detectable paint loss. There are no splits or holes in the head. There is one tiny split in the skin at the back of the flesh hoop. It does not extend to the head or the front of the flesh hoop. The batter head is an older calf skin head that is in very good, playable condition. Both wooden counterhoops have much of their original gold paint. There are a few bare spots and one small crack that had an old reapir that is in very good shape. This is a rare combination of a beautiful, rare Ludwig wrap and painted head in excellent overall condition that will make a terrific centerpiece to any collection or period outfit
