Fully reconditioned Ludwig & Ludwig 6.5”x14” Super Ludwig model snare drum from the late 1920's. This sought after “Concert Model” size “Super Ludwig” snare drum has been completely re-plated in nickel and is in excellent condition. The drum sounds fantastic with the combination gut/wire snares and new heads currently installed on the drum. This drum is dated between 1927 and 1930 due to two distinct features on the drum. First, the original tube lugs are counter sunk where the tension rod engages with the lug. The tube lugs made before 1927 did not have this countersinking of the threads. Second, the bottom rim is engraved rather than stamped with the model name “Super-Ludwig”. The shell is the heavy brass 2 piece version that is the most derieable shell from this era. When we received the drum there were a few dings in the shell along with 3 extra holes. The holes were filled and the more noticeable dings removed. When the shell was re-plated the Ludwig logo that is usually lightly stamped iton the shell to the left of the strainer was lost in the polishing process. However the “Ludwig pat. 1-29-24 other pat. Pend.” text still remains on the throw-off arm and the “Super-Ludwig” engraved on the bottom rim is still visible. The hardware is original to the drum or era with the following exceptions: the extension arm and thumb screw, snares, and snare guards are Wanser reproductions. This drum has been restored to like new condition. It is an excellent sounding drum that is now ready to resume its career on the concert stage or backing a band.
