This is a nice example of a late 1950's or early 1960's Ludwig Jazz Festival snare drum with blue & cream duco finish. This is an early version of the Jazz Festival model with 5 1/2" x 14" ply shell, WFL logo P-83 throw-off, nickel bowtie lugs and nickel over brass rims with a drop gate. THere was never an internal mufler installed in this drum. All parts are original to the drum except for the heads which are new, unplayed Remo heads. The nickel plating is in excellent condition with the exception of the throw-off and butt plate which show a little corrosion. The duco finish is in very good condition with a nice bright color. There is one large chip in the finish near the badge and some crazing throughout but it has a very nice overall apearance. This is a rare, collectible, for a great price that also provides the classic Jazz Festival sound that is a good match for any vintage set from the 1960's.
