Product Code: TRE91Ludwig & Ludwig Jingle Castagnette paddle. As shown in the attached 1932 catalog, these model 632, combination jingle and castagnette paddles were offered by Ludwig through the late 20's and 30's. It allows the player to combine the sound of a castagnette and tambourine in rhythmic patterns played by one hand. These were great for the pit drummers of the vaudeville and silent movie era. The paddle is in excellent overall condition. The ebonized maple handle is 9 1/2" in length. The castagnettes are in beautiful orifinal condition with an early Ludwig script logo on each side. There are four pairs of silver jingles, 2 per side. The ebonized finish is excellent. There was a crack in the paddle near one of the jingles that has been repaired. These are rare items today and will make a great addition to any period display or set-up.
