1928-1932 Ludwig & Ludwig Standard "All-Around" model snare drum in beautifully preserved Peacock Pearl wrap. This is a great example of the very popular Peacock Pearl covered drums from the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. This 5”x14” standard model snare drum with the “timepiece” throw-off is in excellent condition with good color and minimal fading. The Ludwig & Ludwig catalogs form this era listed this size shell as the "All-Around" model. When we received the drum the original throw-off was missing and a modern piccolo throw-off was mounted on the drum. The two extra holes for the modern throw-off were plugged and cosmetically hidden and an original throw-off was put back on the drum. The extra holes are covered by the original throw-off so they are not visible. All other hardware is either original to the drum or original “of the era” so the drum is all correct and original except for the heads and wire snares. The solid mahogany shell is in round, so modern heads fit easily, and it sounds terrific. The snares are 1960’s Ludwig script logo wires. We date this drum from 1928-1932 because a tone-control was never installed. Ludiwg starting installing tone controls after 1932. This drum will be an excellent addition to any vintage drum collection for display or performance.
