This is a Slingerland Special Student model snare drum from 1955. As shown in the attached 1955 Slingerland catalog, this snare has a 5 1/2" x 14". 3-ply shell, three point throw off, six sound king lugs, and straight, no flange rims. All of the nickel plated hardware is in good condition. The black and silver two-tone duco finish is in good overall condition with a few chips but but no flaking. The original first version black and brass badge and snappy snare wires are also original to the drum. This is an unusual, transition model Slingerland snare drum that will make a nice collectible or player's drum for a 1950's Slingerland outfit.
