This is a terrific example of the famous WWII era Rolling Bomber model drums. Slingerland made the Rolling Bomber model with rosewood lugs during the war years to save on metal consumption for the war effort. This all original bass drum from the early 1940's has a blue & silver duco finish with original white marine pearl inlay hoops. The cloud badge is the second tan & brass badge used at this time. All 20 of the rosewood lugs, tension rods, and clips are in excellent condition. The dark stained counter hoops make a nice complement to the dark wood lugs. Both calf heads are in good shape. The resonant head has a light coat of white paint to help protect it from weather variations. There are a few chips in the duco finish, mostly near the badge but it is in very good shape overall. These beautiful drums are a unique part of American drum history. Slingerland's WWII era drums were the most attractive of all the WWII American drums making this drum a great addition to any vintage drum collection or display.
