This is a super rare Ludwig "Four-In-One" wooden whistle from the early 1920's. As shown in the attached 1922 Ludwig catalog, this large wooden whistle produces an unlimited range of tones from a deep stemboat to a high train and even a two-tone cuckoo. Each of the three wooden flutes has a sliding stop that can be used to raise or lower the tone of that flute. In addition, each of the flutes can be stopped completely with a metal switch at the top of the flute. The smallest of the flutes has a hole with wooden grommet in the middle that can be used as a cuckoo. There is a nice branded Ludwig & Ludwig logo at the top of the whislte. Made of hardwood with a removeable mahogany mouthpiece, this whistle is in excellent condition that has stood the test of time. This whistle will become a centerpiece for any vintage whistle collection.
