Rare, early 1900's Ward han cackle imitation. As shown in the attached 1909 Ward catalog, this imitation is made of seamless nickel plated brass. Made by the Ward company of England, this whistle is one of a set of imitations made for the Ludwig & Ludwig drum company through the 1930s. The Ward whistles also appear in the Leedy catalogs from the same period. Our hen cackle imitation sounds terrific and is in very good condition. The nickel plating is bright and there are a few small dents in the tube which don't affect the sound or overall appearance. Over 5 13/16" in length and with a 3/4" diameter brass tube. A hen cackle imitation was a standard trap for the pit drummers of the early 20th century. This is a must have imitation for any period collection or vintage drum outfit.
