1939 WFL Ray Bauduc “Dixieland Swing” model Twin Sensitive (double strainer) snare drum. This is a great example of the WFL swing model twin sensitive snare drum that has been restored to its original glory. When the drum came to us it had been stripped of its original White Marine Pearl covering and stained dark brown. We decided to recover and restore the drum as all the original parts (except for the rims and snares) were with the drum and everything was in very good condition but needed a good cleaning. We removed the badge, recovered the drum using available “vintage white marine pearl” and professionally re-installed the badge. The parts were cleaned and have minimal to no plating loss. The rims are chrome plated but are era and model correct brass rims. The snares are two different types of modern cable which give the drum the ability to produce three different sounds depending on the combination one chooses to engage. The shell is 7”x14” made of three ply mahogany. This drum has the more desirable “Imperial” style lugs compared to the more basic Zepher lugs that also appear on this model. The drum is very sensitive with the wire snare sound yet very crisp and powerful at the higher dynamic levels. This is a great opportunity to acquire a classic vintage drum for your collection or to play. The drum sounds terrific!
