1937 WFL Ray Bauduc “Dixieland Swing” model Twin Sensitive (double strainer) snare drum in completely original condition. This is a great example of the WFL swing model twin sensitive snare drum that is completely original. All of the nickel plated hardware is in excellent condition. The original wooden, inlaid counter hoops are also in perfect condition. Original wooden hoops from this era are rare to find without serious degradation from use over the years. The snares are probably original to the drum. One set is coiled wire, the other is wire wound silk as described in the attached 1937 WFL catalog. The shell is 7”x14” made of three ply mahogany. Its white marine pearl covering is slightly yellowed from age but still bright. There are no cracks or splits and the seam is tight. The badge is the early WFL "Lyre" badge making this drum one of the earliest examples produced by WFL. This drum has the more desirable “Imperial” style lugs compared to the more basic Zepher lugs that also appear on this model. The drum is very sensitive with the wire snare sound yet very crisp and powerful at the higher dynamic levels. This is a great opportunity to acquire a classic vintage drum for your collection or to play. The drum sounds and looks terrific !
