This is a rare Leedy brand Giant Chee Foo tom tom with folding stand. These giant Chinese tom toms were used as floor toms in the early 20th century. They were imported and offered by all of the major American drum companies during this period. This drum is the medium sized drum offered at the time as shown in the 1933 Leedy catalog. Both heads are heavy skin, probably water buffalo, tacked on to the wooden shell. Both heads are unpainted and in excellent condition. The original folding stand has a clearly marked Leedy script logo on one of the three legs, The rubber bumpers at the top of each leg are original. There is some slight plating loss on the legs but it is in excellent condition overall. These toms are hard to find as are the adjustable folding stands. This is a rare opportunity to get both together and add a period correct floor tom to any vintage early 20th century outfit.
